An unbalanced wheel puts unnecessary stress on steering, suspension, and, of course, the tyre itself.

What Causes Imbalance?

Every tyre and wheel combination has slight weight variations. Even a new tyre fresh off the shelf will need balancing before it’s road-ready. Over time, wheels can go out of balance through normal use, after hitting a pothole, or after losing a balance weight.

The Symptoms to Watch For

Steering wheel vibration – particularly at a consistent speed, typically between 50 and 70mph – is the most common sign of an unbalanced wheel. A rhythmic thumping or uneven tyre wear can also indicate a balance issue, though those symptoms can have other causes too.

How We Do It

We use computerised balancing equipment to measure the imbalance of each wheel and apply precisely weighted corrections. It’s a quick job – most vehicles are done within 30 minutes – and it’s always included as part of a tyre fitment at London Road Tyres.
